DIY Outdoor Table Decorating Tips for the Holidays

At Harmony Cellars we love to host events, usually themed, and it is always fun for me to be creative for our guests. In this post, I touch on some of my own tips and tricks, ones that can also be used at home for your personal family table decorations. I will give step by step directions on how to make a cute holiday tablescape that won’t take all your time or break the bank. ***Supply list with links to purchase at the bottom of this email.
Depending on what the special dinner or event may be, decide on a style or theme. I usually center everything around the fresh greenery that I can find. Some of my favorite green touches come from my back yard.
During the holidays, some greenery ideas:
1. Silver dollar eucalyptus
2. Redwood sprigs
3. Willow branches
4. Sycamore leaves
5. Succulents
I am able to forage for all of these things in my own backyard, but if that isn’t an option, Trader Joes is a great place to find fresh greenery and flowers. Note: I am not a florist, so this is something anyone can pull together-no floral wire required!
Step by Step Instructions:
1. For this table décor, I started with some fresh redwood branches from a tree in the backyard. This is my base. I added some faux silver dollar Eucalyptus that I purchased from Ikea.
2. Next, I nestled some mercury glass ornaments in the tablescape to add a bit of holiday sparkle.
3. Then I grabbed candle holders that normally sit on my mantle and nestled them in there for
some light. This also added a little height and the particular color of the wood brightened things up a bit, but you can use any candle holders you have. I purchased these from World Market. (link in supplies list)
Almost done!
4. For the dinner setting, I purchased these black napkins from World Market (they are a great deal) but you could grab any color that fits the theme! I used napkin rings that I use on my kitchen table. If you don’t have napkin rings, you can just roll the napkin and tie a gift tag with the guests’ name on it. No napkin ring required!
5. We purchased these chargers from the Dollar Store for a big event last year, and they have really come in handy especially with a large group of guests. The gold is very light and subtle.
6. I placed the charger and my favorite plate followed by napkin (ring) and hung my favorite holiday blanket over the back of the chair. This tablescape would be easy enough to set up for two or ten.
The last step is to open your favorite bottle of Harmony Cellars wine and you are set for dinner!
